Below please find a brief summary of CES accomplishments during the implementation of the 2008 LIHEAP/DOE contracts, which have been extended until March 31, 2009.

Seven hundred eight (708) program participants, whose utilities had been disconnected or were about to be disconnected, have received emergency assistance (fast track). As a result of such intervention, their utility services have been restored or disconnection of their utilities has been prevented. The average payment per household was $488.00.

Five thousand four hundred seventeen (5417) low income households have received utility bill payment assistance through the Home Energy Assistance Program. Such preventive assistance allowed said households to avoid the risk of having their utilities disconnected and to better cope with the high cost of energy. The average payment per household was $232.00.

CES crews weatherized one thousand two hundred sixteen (1216) low income dwellings, which included: installation of carbon monoxide alarms, switch and outlet gaskets, ceiling fens, compact fluorescent lamps, as well as caulking, minor home repairs, window replacement, gas range repair or replacement, refrigerators replacement, ceiling insulation and other weatherization measures.

CES provided Heating and Cooling services to one thousand eight hundred twenty seven (1,827) households, which included replacement and repair of one thousand thirty four (1,034) heaters and seven hundred ninety three (793) air conditioning units.

Of the total of nine thousand sixty eight (9,168) households which received LIHEAP/DOE services from CES under the 2008 contract, 82% belonged to the vulnerable population groups, such as elderly, disabled, and households with small children.

Approximately 53% of the LIHEAP/DOE service recipients are residents of the LA City and the remaining 47% reside in the incorporated or unincorporated areas of the LA County.

More than 75% of the City residents who received LIHEAP/DOE services reside in the San Fernando Valley.

All LIHEAP/DOE contractual goals have been met and/or exceeded.

LIHEAP/DOE reporting is organized by zip codes. Due to the fact that sometimes two districts share the same zip code area, it is difficult to provide an exact number of households in a specific district which received LIHEAP/DOE services. Should you require specific data, such information may be available from the California Department of Community Services and Development. Please note that CES might not be the only LIHEAP/DOE provider in your district.

CES is proud of its accomplishments, the credit for which belongs to the entire multi-ethnic, multi-lingual CES staff.
